What MentionBell Actually Does

At its core, MentionBell is a real-time interview assistant. You upload your CV once, start a session before your call, and the app handles the rest:

  1. Listens to the interviewer's questions through your microphone or system audio

  2. Detects when a question is being asked — even on partial speech, before the interviewer finishes

  3. Generates an answer using your actual roles, projects, and metrics from your CV

  4. Displays the answer in your chosen mode: on-screen overlay, on your phone, or read aloud via text-to-speech

It works across video platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex) and coding platforms (LeetCode, HackerRank, CodeSignal, CoderPad). For coding rounds, a screenshot shortcut reads the problem off your screen and returns approach, complexity, and working code.

Three Modes: Standard, Stealth, and Voice

MentionBell gives you three ways to receive answers. You pick the one that fits your interview setup.

Standard Mode

Answers appear as an on-screen overlay while you interview. The overlay is excluded from screen capture — your computer keeps MentionBell out of anything it records, so screen shares and recordings show your desktop as if the app were not running. The window is click-through, so you can interact with the interview tab behind it, and you can adjust transparency to your preference.

Best for: Behavioral rounds, system design discussions, and interviews where you are not sharing your full desktop.

Stealth Mode

Answers stream to your phone instead of your laptop. Start a session, scan the QR code at app.mentionbell.com, connect your phone in the browser, and hide the laptop window. Your phone becomes a read-only mirror of the answers — it never records audio and never sends anything to the interview.

Best for: Interviews where you must share your entire screen, or when you want zero chance of anything appearing on the interview machine.

Voice Mode

Instead of reading answers on a screen, MentionBell reads them aloud through text-to-speech. You hear the answer in your earpiece while maintaining eye contact with the camera. Pair Voice mode with Stealth mode when you cannot look at any screen at all.

Best for: High-stakes rounds where glancing at a screen would be noticeable, or when you prefer listening over reading under pressure.
